The Hoyle Brothers will donate 75 percent of the proceeds from online downloads of “Home For The Holidays” songs to Rock For Kids, a local non-profit, through December 31, 2009.

“We try to do something every year to show our appreciation for the ongoing support Chicago gives The Hoyle Brothers,” says Trevor McSpadden, lead singer for the band. “Rock For Kids is a perfect fit. The organization promotes music as a source of lifelong inspiration and fun, just as it’s been for all of us.”

The “Home For The Holidays” EP features the chestnut-worthy country shuffle, “The Only Thing I Want For Christmas,” the speedy, two-beat, “Winter in Chicago,” and the ukulele- and dobro-tinged, “Christmas in Hawaii.”

“We’re delighted to partner with The Hoyle Brothers and raise funds for our music education program,” says Maria Mowbray, Executive Director of Rock For Kids, a non-profit that provides free, year-round music education for children in need. “This partnership will help us meet our goal of expanding our music education offerings in 2010 and beyond.”

The road to Nashville notoriety is often long and difficult but local country music singer and songwriter Katie Quick is in it for the long haul. An Evergreen Park native, Quick has quit her job as a school teacher to concentrate on pursuing a full-time career in country music and on May 1, she released her debut Nashville recorded album “Be the Change.”

Quick’s hardwork and devotion to the craft is beautifully arranged in her 13 track album that covers all typical topics of love, loneliness and just plain fun. Among her songs like “Something About the Rain”, “Your Song” and “If Only I Could” show Quick’s natural ability to tell a story through music. Something we feel will prove her well on the road ahead.

Listen to “Something About the Rain” in the new music section of the Country Music Chicago iPhone Application.
